Privacy Policy
Effective 5 August 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Kintra ("Kintra", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Kintra mobile application (the "App"). Kintra is operated by Ben Orr. By creating an account and using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash). You may also add a username, display name, short bio, and profile photo.
Location information
When you check in, the App reads your device's GPS location and sends it to our servers to confirm you are physically at a fitness venue. We use the Google Maps Platform (Places) to identify nearby venues. The venue and approximate location for a check-in may be stored with that session; you can hide the venue name on individual posts.
Camera and photos
Check-ins require a live photo taken in the App at the moment of check-in. You may also choose a profile photo from your library. We access your photo library only when you select an image.
Activity and social data
We store your check-ins, session details (duration, activity tag, optional title and caption), streaks, XP, ranks, and your social activity such as follows, likes, comments, and participation in groups and challenges.
Device and technical data
We collect a push-notification token (if you enable notifications), app version, device type, and basic log data needed to operate and secure the service.
Subscription data
If you purchase Kintra Pro, your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and Apple. We receive confirmation of your entitlement; we never receive or store your payment card details.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Verify check-ins and deter cheating
- Operate the streak, XP, and rank systems
- Power the social feed, leaderboards, groups, and challenges
- Send reminders and notifications you have enabled
- Provide and manage Kintra Pro
- Respond to support requests
- Keep the service safe through moderation and abuse prevention
- Comply with our legal obligations
3. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the App), on the basis of your consent (camera, location, and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings), and for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service.
4. How your information is shared
Other users
Your username, display name, profile photo, rank, streak, check-in posts, and leaderboard position are visible to other users according to your settings. You choose whether a post shows its venue, and you can hide any post from your profile.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run the App:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage
- Google Maps Platform — venue verification
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Expo and Apple — push-notification delivery
They process data on our behalf under their own terms.
Legal
We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account in the App (Settings → Delete account), your profile, check-ins, photos, and associated data are removed from our systems, except where we are required to retain limited records to meet legal obligations.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You can edit your profile and delete your account at any time in the App. To make any other request, contact us at the address below.
7. Security
We protect your data using encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.
8. Children
Kintra is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will remove it.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
